Honestly,I think the probability of release L4D3 is low as they will mainly focus at more DLC For L4D2???im not sure,it's just my personal opinion ..
Btw,I've played Valve Games for many years,its rarely to see Valve Keep Develope series game ,just like Team Fortess 2,they stopped to make TF3,...(my opinon,dont blame on me please)...also ,I think the result of L4D3 would be the same as L4D2  in vLan/Steam if Valve does release L4D3... SourceMod abused ...Left 22 Dead,item purchase,Build etc...I'm just expressing what I feel nowsaday in vLan L4D2..I no longer can see normal server in coop,,everythings has changed...I hope to see original plays IF 3 released... ((((hahaha,,nothing...just ignore what I says)
