Let a and a - 3 be the root of the equation.

product of root = c/a
   = -5/4 = (a)(a-3)
   =a^2 - 3a
0=4a^2-12a+5
so , the roots are 2.5 and 0.5.

a=2.5 & a=0.5
for a=2.5,                                        for a=0.5
sum of root = -b/a                           sum of root = -b/a  
-2kx / 4 = (a)+(a-3)                         -2kx / 4 = (a)+(a-3)
-2kx / 4 = 2.5 + (2.5-3)                    -2kx / 4 = (0,5)+(0.5-3)
-2kx / 4 = 2                                      -2kx / 4 = -2
         k  =-4                                               k = 4
